Hello! Here is a couple of random shots from the last couple of days. The mood is a bit somber because that is generally what our news these days are.

A few weeks ago Serbia, BiH and a part of Croatia have been hit by enormous rainfalls, which resulted in the highest water levels in recorded history and, subsequently, devastating floods. Over the weekend thousands of people have lost their homes. They have since been evacuated (and I have to say here that I am proud of my dad who was a part of an immediate search and rescue team and quite literally risked his life to get others off of their roofs and onto dry land) but the worst is yet to come. In a couple of weeks when the media frenzy dies down and we continue on with our lives those people will still be homeless and sleeping on the floor of a school gym with all of their worldly possessions in a garbage bag.

The good in the bad, if such a thing exists, is the realization that life is short and we need to make the most of it. We were given this wake up call whether we live in the flooded areas or not and the three neighboring nations that have been unfriendly for years finally came together to help each other. If you want to help too, here is some info on how you can do that. And even if you don’t, simply smile at a stranger on the street. Kindness keeps the world afloat and every little bit helps!
